Fixed Fees for Family Law
We offer family law advice and divorce by either the traditional method where your solicitor charges you an hourly fee for the work carried out, or a fixed fee basis. We also offer legal aid to qualifying applicants.
We offer all our clients a free initial consultation so that we can discuss your situation and agree on the most convenient payment method for your circumstances.
Fixed fees are available for the following:
Petitioner Divorce - £300.00 plus VAT and court fees
Petitioner is the person who is starting the divorce proceedings against someone else (this person is known as the Respondent). The fee does not apply if the other person defends the divorce or does not co operate. The fee does not include the following:
- Court Fees
- Copies of Marriage certificates
- Translation of marriage certificates
- Translation of paperwork within the proceedings
- Advice or work in relation to children, financial matters, property or domestic violence (this can be discussed separately)
- Amendments to divorce petitions after the petition is filed (sent) to the Court
- Advice or work if the respondent also starts divorce proceedings at the same time (this is known as a cross petition)
- Enquiry agent fees
- Interpreters
- Advice or representation in pursing or enforcing costs against the other party
We will be able to provide you estimates of any additional costs if they apply to your case and we will inform you of this in advance of incurring any additional fees.
The fixed fee is not available if either party lives abroad.
Respondent Divorce - £150.00 plus VAT
The Respondent is the person being divorced. The fixed fee does not include the following:
- Advice or work in relation to children, financial matters, property or domestic violence (this can be discussed separately)
- Advice or representation in defending or negotiating costs claimed by the other party.
- Translation of divorce petitions or paperwork within the divorce
Interpreters
The fixed fee is not available if either party lives abroad.
Parental Responsibility Agreement - £175.00 plus VAT
If you do not share Parental Responsibility for a child we can arrange for a Parental Responsibility Agreement to be drawn up without the need for Court proceedings as long as this is agreed.
The fixed fee will not apply if this is in dispute between the parties.
Prenuptial, Cohabitation, Separation Agreement - £650.00 plus VAT
The Fixed fee will only apply if the terms are agreed.
Children Proceedings – Charged at hourly rates
Legal advice and representation relating to children's residence and contact with parents or grandparents.
Financial Proceedings – Charged at hourly rates
Legal advice and representation dealing with financial disputes between married or unmarried couples. This can be during a divorce or a separation.
